Create your Reader Zone Parent or Reader account, join a reading program and make your first reading entry in less than five minutes.
Below are the step-by-step instructions to creating and using your Reader Zone account on a mobile device.
Step 1:
Download and install the Reader Zone app from Google Play or the App Store. Search for "Reader Zone" to find the correct app.
Step 2:
Create your account by clicking “”Sign Up”. Enter your email and create a password. The password must be at least 8 characters. Your email address will become your username.
Step 3:
Select your account type. A Reader account is for one person who will manage their own account and reading entries. A Parent account is for a person who will enroll more than one person in their account. If a parent is participating in reading programs with their children, the can add themselves as a reader.
Step 4:
If a Reader Account,skip to step 6. For a Parent account, click "Add Reader" and enter the first and last name of the reader on the next screen. A parent can enter the child's first name and last initial, nickname, etc. if they prefer.
Step 5:
Enter the 5-character reading program code provided by your school or library. The program code can contain any mix of letters and numbers. If you are not participating with a school or library program, you can click the link at the bottom of the screen to join a Reader Zone public program.
Step 6:
Upon entering a program code, you will see the reading the Reading Group(s) associated with the program. Join the group(s) that pertain to you and click "Next". You can always edit the groups you join at any time.
Step 7:
Optional Step. Book Bank allows you to enter the books you’re reading and the books you’ve finished. You can search for books by entering a title, author, ISBN or keyword. Add as many books as you like. You can also skip this step by clicking “skip” in the top-right corner of the screen. Books you add will appear in the "Books I'm Reading" area of the app.
Step 8:
You’re Ready to Read! Click the “Go” button to proceed to the reading entry screens and make reading entries.
If you are in a reading group that log minutes, you will see a built-in timer. Click the green button to start the time, when you're through reading, click the pause button to confirm your entry.
Other metrics, books, pages and chapters will use the key pad to make entries. The Yes/No metric will ask if you have read today, you can click yes or no.
Step 9:
Manage your account.
By clicking on the bubble in the top-right corner of the reading entry screen, you see the following tools:
View Progress: this will show all the activity you have entered in your account in chronological order. Every reading entry, finished book, award will appear.
Add Past Reading: You can make reading entries for the past 10 days. Click "Add Past Reading" to access the date selector. Make the reading entries and save them.
Edit Reading Groups: You can leave current reading groups or join new ones. Click "Edit Reading Groups" to enter a reading program code to join a new group. Swipe current reading groups to the left to leave.
Edit Reader: You can edit your name as it appears on the mobile app and what the reading program organizer sees by clicking "Edit Reader".
Back to My Readers: Return to the app home screen to select another reader.
