Reading goals are the essence of Reader Zone. Reading groups of all kinds need to work toward and accomplish reading goals.
Setting reading goals is simple and intuitive.
Once you have created your reading programs and reading groups, you can set reading goals. If a reading group does not have a reading goal, you will be prompted to set one by seeing the this screen:
By clicking “+Add Goal”. you will be presented with the goal creation function. Your reading goals are set at the group level. Each reading group can have one active reading goal at a time.
Time to make a decision: Do you want a fixed goal or a reading log?
A fixed goal specifies that all within a reading group will read a pre-determined number of pages, minutes, chapters or books for a given time frame.
Fixed reading goals have four elements:
1. Metric This can be pages, minutes, books, chapters or a yes/no. The yes/no goal simple asks a reader if they read that day, it does not capture what type of reading.
2. Goal Amount This is the amount of the metric you want your readers to read, e.g. 400 minutes
3. Frequency Daily, Weekly. Monthly, or the duration of the entire time frame you select.
4. Date Range This is the time frame for your goal. Select a start and end date.
An example goal is: 600 (goal amount) minutes (metric) per month (interval) for September through May (goal time frame).
Another goal can be: 100 (goal amount) pages (metric) each month (interval) for the month of June (time frame).
After you select the goal type, you select the metric and time frame in the next step that looks like this:
At this point, you complete goal set up by selecting the Goal Amount, Goal Frequency and Date Range.
After you have completed each field, you will see a confirmation screen that shows the exact goal you have created. that looks like this:
If you need to change any part of the goal, simply click “back” to alter the goal settings.
When you have saved your goal, it will appear on the dashboard for its reading group.
**Please note that your reading groups will not be visible to users unless they have an active reading goal.
Once a reading goal is finished, you can archive it and create a new one for the same reading group.
Archived goals can be viewed anytime. A goal can be edited after it begins. However, the data that has already been collected will reflect on new goal parameters. Please use caution when altering a goal after it has already begun.
Your readers will always have access to the data for their reading, even after your goal is completed.
The option to Archive a Goal allows you to save the goal and all its data so you can view it anytime. Your archived goals will appear in the reading group to which it was associated. If you delete a reading group, you will remove access to view data for archived goals.
